The AD20.5 Slicer Shark Smooth Titanium, Stonewashed is a flagship folder designed by Andrew Demko, acclaimed designer and former Cold Steel designer, who has incorporated his most advanced mechanism - the Shark-Lock™- into this model. The design develops a line of premium utility knives, aimed at professionals and collectors looking for maximum reliability and mechanical resistance. Blade is made of CPM 3V powder steel, known for its excellent edge retention and long sharpness retention. The Slicer Shark profile with a lightweight belly and stonewashed finish ensure versatile use and effectively mask signs of use. The blade can be unfolded with a peg or an extended hole in the wedge for quick and intuitive one-handed operation. Handle made of titanium, with deep cutouts for fingers. The whole was reinforced with steel spacer sleeves, and the low-profile deep carry clip allows for convenient carrying. The design is bolted together with Torx screws , which makes disassembly and maintenance easy. The centerpiece of the design is the Shark-Lock™ lock, considered one of the strongest and most functional locks on the market. Intuitively operated with the thumb, it works symmetrically - ideal for both right- and left-handed users. The AD20.5 is a tool without compromise - designed for trouble-free operation in all conditions.
Andrew Demko - owner and founder of Demko Knives, first started forging chisels in 1988, when he was in seventh grade. He immediately realized it was his passion and began forging knives almost immediately. Like many blacksmiths, Andrew began his journey in the garage, honing blade shapes and sharpening them on a small grinder. Andrew's passion for engineering and attention to detail was noticed by the well-known Cold Steel company. At Cold Steel, Andrew developed some of the most innovative and powerful locking mechanisms in the industry. The legendary Tri-Ad Lock, Scorpion Lock, and most recently the one-handed operator's dream - the Shark-Lock.
CPM 3V - wear-resistant tool steel with high hardness. Manufactured by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy / Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM) method. The CPM process creates a highly homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods. Designed to provide maximum fracture and chipping resistance in high wear resistance steels. It offers impact resistance greater than A2, D2, Cru-Wear or CPM M4, approaching the levels provided by S7 and other impact-resistant grades. CPM 3V is hardened to 61-63 HRC for applications where chronic fracture and chipping is found in other tool steels, but where the abrasive properties of high-alloy steel are required.
The Shark-Lock™ mechanism on the back of the knife is operated by a ramp-like “flipper.” Opening the blade causes the spring-driven locking arm to move up and then into a notch in the shank, placing it under the locking pin. Uniquely, the locking mechanism moves forward and backward while simultaneously moving up and down. This allows for an increase in the size of the blade contact area, providing better mechanical strength in a specific area. And since the drive spring that moves the locking element upward to the locked position is located in the locking arm itself, it will not be exposed to dirt and debris.
Blade - with a Slicer Shark profile with a slightly outlined belly and a gently sloping back, which translates into high cutting control and efficiency in work. The CPM 3V steel used is a powder material with exceptional resistance to wear and loss of sharpness. Blade surface has been finished with a stonewashed finish, which minimizes the visibility of scratches and reflections. The user has a thumb stud and an elongated opening, which allow the user to quickly unfold the blade with one hand. Milling on the back (jimping) a ids in precise blade guidance and increases safety with firm pressure.
Handle - grips made of titanium, distinguished by lightness, rigidity and resistance to external conditions. Profiled undercuts promote a secure grip, even with gloves. Steel spacers increase the rigidity of the entire structure, and the deep-carry clip allows convenient and discreet carrying in the pocket. In addition, a left-side clip is included, for left-handed users. Torx-style mounting components simplify removal and servicing of the knife. The Shark-Lock™, located at the top of the Handle, works instantly, providing full control and safety, regardless of your preferred grip or dominant hand.
